Antique Victorian Pine Blanket Chest Storage Box Trunk c.1880–1900

A lovely antique Victorian pine blanket chest dating from the late 19th century, circa 1880–1900.
A wonderfully characterful piece of old pine furniture, retaining its natural warm honey-coloured timber and plenty of marks and signs of age that give it an authentic antique appearance.
The chest features a simple, practical rectangular design with a large hinged lift-up lid, traditional timber construction and an original-style metal lock.
The lid opens to reveal a spacious storage compartment, which has been painted internally in a pale grey finish at some point in its life.
The construction is particularly appealing, with visible traditional jointing to the corners and aged timber throughout.
It would make an excellent blanket chest, bedding box, toy box or general storage chest, while also working beautifully as a rustic coffee table or occasional piece of furniture.

Good solid antique condition commensurate with age and previous use. As you can see from the photographs, the chest has numerous old marks, knocks, scratches, dents and areas of wear throughout. The timber has developed a lovely colour over many years and the imperfections give it plenty of character. The interior has previously been painted grey and also shows signs of age and use.
