Antique Victorian Cobden Table - Ornate Cast Iron Base

A fantastic and highly decorative antique Victorian cast-iron Cobden table base, featuring exceptionally detailed cast-iron scrollwork and original embossed markings on the frame.

The base carries the Cobden Table / patent-style insignia, which is a particularly interesting feature for collectors of Victorian cast-iron furniture.

The Cobden table design is associated with 19th-century English garden and conservatory furniture, with surviving examples dating to around the 1870 period. Comparable documented examples feature the same distinctive ornate construction and embossed Cobden markings. 

The intricate ironwork includes scrolling decoration, decorative uprights and substantial connecting stretchers, giving this piece a fantastic architectural and industrial character.

It would make an excellent restoration project or could be paired with a suitable marble, slate, stone or reclaimed timber top to create a truly impressive statement table.
